The curriculum of the program is based on the principle that digital humanities is more than just an application of digital tools to a specific field of study, rather it is a multidisciplinary effort that forces us to reassess the way knowledge is obtained and represented. Therefore, engaging in digital humanities scholarship requires both critical thinking about its epistemologies and understanding its technical aspects --- and the two cannot be separated.
The main aims of the certificate program are:
- to provide a comprehensive overview of topics and challenges of digital humanities
- to encourage critical thinking about the research methods and the epistemologies associated with digital humanities
- to equip students with technical skill sets necessary to engage in current digital humanities research, and
- to facilitate inter-disciplinary work within CEU, both for students and for faculty.
