This year's conference of the European Cooperation for Statistics of Network Data Science (COSTNET) has been held in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, October 25-27, visited by two members of the Center for Network Science. As one of the keynote speakers, Michael Szell, Assistant Professor at CNS, introduced the audience to his latest projects on urban mobility, including the advantages of taxi sharing and crowdsourced methods for quantifying and visualizing mobility spaces in different cities. Milan Janosov, a PhD student at CNS, presented his first results about quantifying success on artistic fields at the flash talk and poster sessions.

The conference was focused on statistical methods and mathematical modeling in network science, but also featured a diversity of more applied and data mining contributions such as presented by Milan and Michael.
