As a PhD student, Johannes studied public contracting markets using network methods. He was interested in patterns that emerge when actors are corrupt.
After completing his PhD, Johannes was a postdoc at the Chair of Computational Social Sciences and Humanities at RWTH Aachen, and is now an assistant professor at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. He continues to study social scientific problems using the methods of network science.
Johannes was born in Germany, grew up in the US, and lived in Hungary from 2009 to 2019.
