Title:  "Bringing Life Science Data to ... Life: Biomedical Visualizations for Science and Society"

Bio: Renata G. Raidou is Assistant Professor in Medical Visualization and Visual Analytics at TU Wien, Austria. She is a holder of the Dirk Bartz Prize for Visual Computing in Medicine (1st Place) at Eurographics 2017 and the Best PhD Award 2018 of the EuroVis Awards Programme. In 2022, she was awarded the EuroVis Young Researcher Award. She is currently on the Steering Committee of EG VCBM, GI-VCBM, and GI-Vis, and a Eurographics Junior Fellow. She has also been elected in the Executive Committee of Eurographics and acts as the Austrian representative in EASAC (European Academies’ Science Advisory Council), a collaborative body for independent, evidence-based scientific advice to policymakers---specifically in the area “AI in Healthcare”. Her research focus is on the interface between Visual Analytics, Image Processing, and Machine Learning.

Title: "Lines, Circles & Clicks — Exploring Complex Systems Through Interactivity"

BioTobias Batik’s design and research interests are at the intersection of geometry and human perception. He specializes in interactive visualizations and has developed a shape-shifting haptic device for VR. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Media Informatics and Visual Computing and a master’s degree in Media and Human-Centered Computing from TU Wien. His background is in graphic design. Currently, he is part of the Visualization Group at the Complexity Science Hub, where he develops interactive approaches and visualizations for exploring complex systems.

Title: "From numbers to narratives – the power of data in journalism"

Bio: Sandra Schober has been working as a data journalist at ORF.at since 2021 where she writes data-driven news stories for their online news website. Sandra understands data as a valuable resource in journalism to find stories in and tell stories with to provide context and explanations for readers. As her bachelor she studied journalism at FHWien WKW. During an exchange semester in Oslo she first learnt about the use of data visualizations in journalism in depth which captured her interest. She is currently also studying Science-Technology-Society (master program) at the University of Vienna where she focuses on science communication topics.
