Success comes in bursts or ’hot streaks’ during a career, and few can have more than one such streak. It seems that if you haven’t had a hot streak by the middle of your career, you have missed your chance. However, a study of the oeuvres of tens of thousands of film-makers, artists and scientists by Lu Liu, Yang Wang, Roberta Sinatra, C.
